Actually, the irony is that the people who are looking at you and judging you based on your phone are the snobs.
Apple certainly doesn't come across as fools for protecting their designs. And if you know a little bit about how this works, you'd know that by not protecting it, they forfeit the right to protect it in the future if the same thing happens. Then again, that's for corporate lawyers to handle, it's not a marketing decision. And...being a public company, they have an obligation to their shareholders to not allow these kind of infringements. But yeah, I can see how this is easily percieved as bullying, or stupid, by people who can't see the forest through the trees such as yourself.

Now I undertand that building this sort of infrastructure costs money and thus it is logical to assume that they would want to recoup some if not all of that investment. However, why would I want to stream music to my phone when I already have music on my phone?

How do you "win" a platform war?
Does Google win because they have so many devices running their Android OS? *Marketshare*

Looking forward to hard drives with this connector.
I bought two 2TB drives for my imovie library. I use one as a backup clone. I felt at the time I bought these that I was finally set. All movies on one drive for less than $100 (each). I see now that I will have an upgrade in a few years for speed purposes. By then perhaps 4TB or greater drives will be common and cheap.
The backup process will be a lot faster.
The other game changer with these drives will come with time machine backups. Right now the speed improvement by direct connection is not great enough to forgo the ease of wireless backups. Well if your hard drive changes 200gb content each day that might not be the case.
But when the thunderbolt drives come around, perhaps the speed advantage will be so great that people will opt for plugging their drives in directly once a day to backup rather than use wireless backups.

Sorry was not trying to be too sexist there and not no they do not always need to be under the protection of a man.
It is more one of those depending on the area. Most areas it is not really a big deal but in others it would be a better idea. It is just one of many tools in a rather large inventor to help manage your risk profile.

To be honest, if you carry a TB to FW, RAID, PCIe expansions, whats the point of carrying an Air?
Are you really going to carry all those? If you want to travel with the thing, just take what you need. I can see an Air + external 2.5inch RAID being a nice minimalist setup for video editing.
Also, will they have to sacrifice a 2.0 USB port in order to intergrate a TB port?

Idk why people say that the update affects only gamers. It affects almost everyone. OpenGLs, 3D, movies, etc.
How does it effect movies? This new GPU is easily powerful enough to decode video. Do you watch all your movies on fast forward or something?
And what are you using OpenGL for that needs that power? Most apps run fine without much acceleration.
Although I do believe the CPU will have an amazing boost, I think the GPU sacrifice will be a very huge one. But only time will tell.

They are rectangular and have icons on home screens.
There's only so much one can do with smart phone styling.

No, Samsung copies Apple because they're lazy and they know that they can generate sales on confusing buyers or convincing buyers that this is the same thing as an iPhone. It's so obvious.
It's fine that they want to make touchscreen phones, just create your own look and feel. Granted some of Samsung's phone are worse than others.

I hope there will be dual-core processor and 1Gb ram on the white phone, that's all i am asking for. Otherwise i am going to use my cheap cell phone until iphone 5 comes out.

Grab yourself a copy of xdelta (http://xdelta.org/) and do your fancy small update package yourself. There's even no need to look at Google, this was common practice on Gentoo GNU/Linux years ago (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=318671). I remember running a satellite server myself. However, that were ISDN/Analog/DSL 765k days, who on 16MBit cares whether the updates are 30 or 300MB anymore, as long as Apple hosts the files?
