I don't get it. I see a box with two sets of letters, FS on top and FF on the bottom. Why do I see that instead of the symbol?

What operating system and browser are you using?

On some posts and signatures I see the apple symbol, but for example, BC2009's post is 4 of those boxes and a smiley. Weird

The Apple symbols that you're able to see are just GIF images (one of the smilies provided by this message board is an Apple logo.) You can see this one (:apple:), because it's just an image. But you can only see this one () if you have the necessary fonts installed, which all iOS devices and Macs should.

The Library of Congress already rule jb is legal. Try again.

Whatever 'muscle' is? All you need to sue someone is money and both Apple and Sony have more than enough.

I've never seen somebody more clueless.

If Geohot loses, Apple could try another pass at it. Even the lowest court could throw out the Library of Congress's opinion.

Clearly somebody wasn't paying attention in middle school history when they went over constitutional powers.

I just donated $100. Geohot is a drama queen but this has absolutely nothing to do with him as a person but the importance of what he did.

Windows is a typical masturbation operating system that constantly tries to satisfy itself (herself/himself?).

Windows 7 has many background processes that do things, consume CPU cycles and therefore nibble battery capacity.

OS X like most UN*X operating systems is behaving more orderly here.I would avoid looking at Activity Monitor for the rest of your life.

I've decided that I don't really want to part out the machine if I do actually sell it. Right now it's looking like I have a good idea of what I want to do with both machines in the future so I may hold off on selling them.

I think my biggest concern is having to spend all the time reinstalling my software and if I can avoid that, that MacMini will only be limited to the partition size used on the MBP.

Just so I understand, I should be ok to proceed as I want to then?

Much appreciation for the quick the response.

OH MY GOD!!!! OK this only took 2 days to figure out.

My cable company (ssshhh Adelphia) does this thing called *Hardware Capture* which means the first computer to use the IP address in the only one that can. It saves the hardware code from your computer so it knows when it should and shouldn't ping it. Well i found this out and this is what i did.

1: I told them that I wanted to change my main computer to another, when I did that I hooked it up to the airport. And everything worked.

Throw some games in the hat please guys!
I'm looking for a game to play under windows on my machine (see sig)

What are you all playing at the moment?

STALKER is coming out next week in the UK. I'm hoping it's going to be a Fallout-esque FPS. It's set in an area called the Zone, near Chernobyl. It's a bit of a mish mash of Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky and the Chernobyl incident. CVG has plenty of interviews and reviews with the developers.

One thing to be leery of is, yes keep your original ram and if you bring it in for Applecare, make sure to put the original ram back in laptop.

What often happens is the person servicing your laptop will restore it to original specs. So if you machine is a 4GB machine, they might take out your 8GB trash it and put in their 4GB so it matches the computer build. I've read many stories on these forums of people losing their expensive harddrive or ram and got back stock items.

It is sold as part of a book (but not actually the entire book on the cd) and the publisher is worried about the cd being copied? Wouldn't you need the book anyway therefore it doesn't matter if the cd is copied; they have the sale regardless of the cd being copied.

If it is any kind of a popular book/cd it will be on the internet before release regardless of copy protection, but if it is a niche market you will probably be fine.

There have been Wii's they just sell out fast :o

Pre-orders don't always work out either. We had one down from September, system launched in December and we had no idea where on the queue we were. So we luckily snatched one from my local Argos (they get 8-15 units every Thursday night) after putting an order on Wednesday.
I've noticed they start selling out as soon as a new game hits. I managed to get one in January, a friend of mine got his not long after. Then out came a few games and they were sold out again :( my girlfriend accumulated 3 of them... then out popped a few more games.

Good luck in hunting for one. There's a lot of demand for that little white box :)

I really hope the shortage doesn't last much longer, this may just end up being the longest one in history for game consoles :/

I believe the 360 was sold out here for 3 months, the PSP for 1 month. Wii is up to 5, certainly a modern day record.

Thanks, Shagrat! I hadn't heard of that site, it looks like it could be very useful!

Great site, not unlike this one:- a lot of people who seem to enjoy a good barney every once in a while. Some N00bs, some real old hands, a good mix!

Been going there for a while. :D
