I would personally give it a week or two to make sure that revisions are not necessary.

The ITC staff just ruled against them, they lost the famous case against MS, they ended up paying Apple Corps, etc.
What have they actually WON?
They won one suit against Apple Records but lost a few others. Talk about copying and violating agreements.

Just an FYI though, it won't sync over DRM content. That stuff is locked to iTunes and any iPod associated with the account.
Itunes doesn't care about your ipod/iphone. You can transfer a itunes DRM song to any ipod in the world and it will play fine. However, if you copied that same song to someone elses PC and tried to play it, it would ask for the itunes password. If you didn't have it, you couldn't play it, on the PC. Take your ipod and copy it over...plays perfectly. It's weird but true.

So what is Apple waiting for with the iPhone 5?
If there are no chips until 2012, then just give us the iphone 5 now :)

Will it be a cinema display with receiver?
That's absolute rubbish. How could you ever make a statement like that?
OBVIOUSLY, it'll be a cinema display, with a built in AppleTV and receiver. :)
Seriously, this is the one Apple product I'd have no interest in. I've always been an advocate of "Why get a good monitor when you can hook up to a nicer HD TV"... but... Apple would easily make this a 2 grand adventure which I would never drop my money on.

It's not, actually. Every time a change in the phone comes out, the manufacturer has to make new cases to reach those new customers, necessitating new tools/molds/whatever (so more cost on their end). Any manufacturer would prefer that the same case worked for all iPhone4s because then they would only have to spend the manufacturing dollars once to reach a every iPhone4 customer. Plus, less confusion when people are buying cases.
So what you are telling me is: An iPhone 4 comes out and I buy a case. Incase makes $20. An iPhone 5 comes out the same size and I don't buy a case because I have an old one and Incase makes $0. How is that better for Incase exactly?
Manufacturing processes are the same for phone cases , candy bars, or screen prints on T-Shirts. The expense comes from the design and fabrication of the molds, not the manufacturing process. These original molds are already made so they can continue to make the old case at next to nothing. Once the new mold is made (the expensive part) it 's the same song.

Don't remove the , it indicates the sarcasm in that comment. I was pointing out to the guy the fallacy of his argument in diminishing Google's work that he was also diminishing Apple's work on OS X.
I believe both companies have a lot of merit for what they did. I'm not pro-anything or anti-anything here. The point of my comment was to say that Apple and Google put in a lot of effort into making their OSes.
Now you're arguing what exactly aside from just wanting to insult me ?
I don't know if he was talking foul about Apple's work.
Absolutely true ? When did Web browsers start to do process scheduling, user input, graphical sub-systems, GUI frameworks, hardware interaction, etc.. etc..
Chrome OS is much more than a browser, it's very much a OS who's desktop environnement happens to be a Web browser, rather than a file explorer like Finder.
So you think, Google's Chrome OS invented or made all these things possible?
Were there no browsers before?
Again, let's drop the Google hate. It has no place in this thread. Why do you insist on beating on them ? Leave the corporate politic between Steve and Eric (now Larry) and let's discuss OS X some.
Sure, lets drop that. Sure.
I don't insist. I for once really like them on certain grounds, but absolutely don't on the other. Similarly with Apple; as both are for-profit organizations.

Apple is adrift in a sea of uncertainty and confusion.
It was bound to happen, they've opened the door wide. The competition is rushing through.

If there were so many problems with the white iPhone 4, how come Stephen Fry has had one (and used it) from the beginning?
Fry has serious adulation for Apple products. No surprise he did the black to white conversion with the phone.

Hmmm. I was fully convinced that dethmaShine was being totally sarcastic with his posts. Seemed obvious to me.
But I see that 5 other posters don't think so. Those are some pretty big odds...5/1...am I really right?
Yeah, I still think I am. :p

Is it even known yet exactly how this will work? The fact that Apple needed to make agreements with all of the labels makes this service look a little suspect to me. For example, would I be allowed to store my music that was ripped from a CD under a different label (one which Apple doesn't have an agreement?)
THIS is what my biggest worry with the new service is. I bought CDs since the day they were available and I collected many hundreds of them over the years. I legally digitized them all and store them on my harddrive. Those I would like to store in the cloud in addition the to the ones I purchased through iTunes.

Nope. I see every issue from the consumer perspective - as I should (being a consumer). Any other perspective would be an abomination (unless for those who hold tons of AAPL shares).
Phrases like "in Apple's eyes" is a good example of what I am talking about. Apple does not use iPhones, consumers do. Consumer eyse are the only eyes that matter. And that is exactly why people are switching to Android. If Apple cares more about what they think is right than what I think is right (for me) it would be stupid for me to care about what Apple thinks or does.
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. You say that it would be stupid for you to care about what Apple thinks or does, yet you're on here berating them left and right. It makes zero sense to me.
Consumer eyes do matter and that's who Apple builds devices for. They don't build them for the spec junkie who has to have everything in the spec list checked off. They want people to have a great experience on their device in areas that matter in their mind.
I doubt that but even if that was the case then what? Every other phone manufacturer on the planet can design a phone that has LTE and Apple could not? Because they spend on R&D much less than any other hi-tech company of comparable size?
It is definitely true currently. No chip supports LTE and the other specifications (CDMA, GSM) yet.
Apple certainly can design a phone that supports LTE, but getting good battery life out of it is another thing. This is an area of focus for Apple so they won't make compromises here.

Ah, so ultimately there will still be 7+ cables, just not connected to the computer itself.
I think that's the idea. Being able to keep all of those connected when you take your laptop elsewhere and then just having to connect the TB cable when you come back.

well there are two market share stats that are at issue here. one is hardware sales, and one is OS X usage.
i.e. I have a mac mini, but it doesn't have X on it. It runs solely windows 2003 server with a couple of virtual servers on it also running windows 2003. It's dead quiet so i can run it in my room 24/7. so it's a hardware sale, but not using X.
I built a macbook for a client running XP only since that's what is required for work. i think more and more we will see apple hardware being bought for use with windows -- people who like the aesthetics but prefer to continue to use their current software library and/or have work restrictions.

Hmmm, why would an update of Front Row be deemed top secret...
Could this suggest that the mythical iHome might be coming soon? I think you're right and there will be some type of recording available through FrontRow. SJ said, "We hear you loud and clear" on this topic.

hmm.. I don't like the look of the calendar. I prefer the simple look as it is in Snow Leopard. I hope there is option to switch it to that look.
