it could be that I am in a no service area for most of the day and the phone keeps trying to get the service so maybe I just need to switch it into airplane mode whenever I have no service.
That's exactly why.
Do you have WiFi in that area? If you are connected to WiFi when in a fringe area, it will help.

This always confuses me. Why do they call it a newsreader? Why not an RSS reader? This does nothing more than keep track of and read RSS feeds. It's not significantly different/better than the RSS capability built into Safari or Firefox.
Maybe I'm a purist (or a snob), but to me a "newsreader" is an application used to read the newsgroups (the Usenet). Panic's Unison application is a newsreader. It connects to newsgroup servers and allows me to read posts and download attachments.
Am I being too picky?

Come on algoriddim, bring on the sale for the iPad version and I'll be happy :) 20 dollars is too much for me, I just won't use it enough to warrant that price. If it was 7,99 I would have bought it already.

Does this copy the OS as well? I ask because I am getting a Mac mini but want to put a different hd in it. I plan to use my external case to house the new drive and connect it to my Mac. I thought I read that there was something that came with the Mac (so you don't have to buy anything) that would let you copy everything including the os to a new clean drive.
If you have a Time Machine backup and are installing a new hard drive you can boot up from your OS X install disk and under Utilities (if I remember right) you can choose to restore the new hard drive from a Time Machine Backup. I did this for a friend when I replaced a hard drive for him in a Macbook.

Thanks, Shagrat! I hadn't heard of that site, it looks like it could be very useful!
Great site, not unlike this one:- a lot of people who seem to enjoy a good barney every once in a while. Some N00bs, some real old hands, a good mix!
Been going there for a while. :D

Or why not an MBA? It should be able to handle Aperture fine, not sure about Final Cut - might want to ask on the MBA forum.
I thought about the Air, especially considering I'll be buying an SSD to replace the HDD in the MBP, however the 4GB of RAM and the older Core 2 Duo processors kinda scared me away. Now if the MBA has a refresh before we get back in July I'll definitely look into it...
As was your +1 for the $1199 13" or $1499 13"

Unfortunately it isn't since they aren't using the same chipset.
You could, however, upgrade the 8-core base model to a 12-core or upgrade the quad core base model to a single 6-core.
Would I need to get another mother board with that?
And Second, this might seem like an odd question (forgive me, im really not too knowledgable on this subject) but would I be able to keep the actual Quad Core processor and add that additional 6 core processor?
thanks.

Based on the database-driven backend, and reading through the online manual, I doubt there is a limit on the number of levels he can define.
So we'll just have to wait and see. :)
Intresting... so couldn't we have custom titles or something?
Or more titles...
I figured here would be the most appropriate thread to post my 2,000th post. :)
And there was much rejoicing. *Yaaaaay...*
Congratulations. :)

I knew someone would suggest that... LOL! In user accounts under my name the only thing I see is ituneshelper and some speech thing. But, would ituneshelper prevent my IMac from sleeping, I wonder?
Regards,
Peter
I'm not sure. I have the same issue with my MacBook most of the time, it just won't fully sleep by itself, only the display sleeps. I have never been able to get to the root of it, although I think iTunesHelper may have had something to do with it. I got rid of it, since the only thing it does is open iTunes when an iDevice is connected.

The official TRIM support is already in Snow Leopard builds for the new Macbook Pros with SSDs and it's in Lion as well. The official support is only for the Apple's SSDs, no TRIM support for third party SSDs. There is a way to enable it for any SSD that supports TRIM, but it is a hack. Here's the thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1125400
Apple are usually conservative about their SSDs, they don't go for the top of the line SSDs. So, it is normal to see conservative speed from Apple's SSDs.

Not sure why you didn't just move along instead of posting a snide comment. I read the product review and saw a variety of answers. I came here to confirm them
I read that you have to go to sound in system preferences and change the output to tv once you hook the cord up. Can you confirm that works?
Yes this'll work. I don't know why dqpassat is having problems though as the cpu speed has nothing to do with this.

Just pointing out the cost/benefit ratio. In this case, way too money is spent protecting something that doesn't cost a lot. I see protection for shuffles as a waste of money.

I love the holiday. However, Santa 'Jobs' won't come until MacWorld.
Of course, it's heaven when fans are able to watch the Keynote live or be a part of the MacWorld Expo hype.

I've been using the android release for about a week. Good app.
Off topic, I thought Adobe was "teh suck" around these parts with no programming talent whatsoever?
Or does that opinion only apply to Flash?

folder enhancer is pretty nice
Which one is the best? There are three that I can see. Free, 99, & $1.49.
My favorite is NoLock. I do not have to swipe to turn my ipad or iphone on. VERY cool. To me, this one app is the single main reason to JB. Apple should give us the option to swipe or not...it's a fundamental flaw IMHO.
Sbsettings, as others have mention, is indispensable, if only for the quick access to brightness. Also, to 2x tap the status bar to switch programs is critical to avoid using the annoying home button popper.
Infinidock is awesome.
MyWi - pretty obvious how important it is to share my signal with my other devices.
