You have to apply at HRDC office in the city nearest to where you land. HRDC is Human Resources Development Canada and they issue SIN CARDS. Google it.
Just make note that they are not open on Weekend. You can only apply for SIN on weekday.

We have a wealth of information from A to Z on US Immigration, why dont we ourselves write articles and editorials and get them published in the News Papers, Journals, etc?
Why are we waiting for some one to come to us and take information to write articles on us. Does Newspapers check the background of authors to verify if they are citizens/non-citizens/green card holders/ H1B's. What all matters to them is quality and authenticity of the articles.
Do you folks think this a good option to pursue?
Is anybody stopping you from doing so?

You should file for amendment before your current I-94 expires....If you already have a I-94 from Kaplan, do it asap...Your lawyer should have known better....

I have an apporved I/140 and RD of I/485 in May 2007 under EB3. The PD is april 01 which is unavailable per current VB. My H1 is expiring in Jan 08 (9th yr extn.) Should I get my H1 extended and also can I do it myself? Kindly advise if I go for premium processing for H1 extn., can I get it extended for 3 yrs? Any related link for extn. be appreciated. Thanks
yes, you can..infact complete immigration process you can do yourself without any lawyer but only for 1 year as your AOS is pending. Search this forum, you will find an email from one of member who has given complete list for H1b extension.

I don't know where u stay in MD but if u are near Baltimore don't got to Baltimore MVA.
Go to the one in ESSEX.My wife had too many issues at Baltimore MVA but essex people were very nice and had a seperate person dealing with licensing issues for visa people.

My wife's H1 got approved & it is valid from October Ist. When she went to Social Security Office today 9/30 - they denied saying they can't pull up her information in their system (from INS) & hence they can't issue the SSN.
She was carrying her I-797 approval (along with I-94).
Anyone else faced a similar situation ? Any suggestions.

Change add' online in USCIS website. After few days you will receive confirmation letter. Also send AR-11 for to DHS and confirm with USCIS.
FYI, i saw 2 LUDs on 485 & EAD from the day i changed the address online.
I changed my address online and confirmed my address with cSR.
I didn't send AR-11 form though.
I didn't get any confirmation mail for address change to the new address..
Is this fine?

I was on a website the other day. It mentioned that US consulate in Mumbai was not processing H1B & L1 visas now because of some renovation going on so many windows had to be closed. Please check on it before you go to Mumbai.
Have you got H1B stamp in your passport earlier? If yes then I would suggest going to Canada & having it stamped there. I spoke to a few people and they say Canada is easiest. In case they deny you, then you would have to go to India for stamping.

So I have to join the new employer only after the new I-140 is approved right..my current I-140 is already approved..
You can move to a new employer and start EB-2 (PERM based LC, I-140 etc.) with them. You can still retain the old PD because your I-140 has been approved.

Yes, the I94 that was attached to I797 H1 approval of your current employer(the latest H1) is the I-94 that you have to give to authorities when you go out of US to India.
Some Airports, they collect that at the baggage check-in. Some airports, they collect the I-94 right outside the plane when you are boarding the plane and get your boarding pass scanned etc. But it is your responsibility to give them the correct I-94.
About the docs required for stamping, I would talk to someone in the consulate (phone them or email them, emails are usually replied within 3-4 days). Copies are good, but original previous H1s, if required, should be with you. If you dont need originals then copies would be fine. I wouldnt rely on websites alone for such important queries. Visa stamping, if gone wrong, could get your stuck for months.
Ask your previous employers for those. Now that you have left, they should give you those as they dont have any use of them anyways. If they dont, then you can get them from the lawyer's offices. I am speculating this. Elite people in USA predicted this situation in early 90s and they put Country quota. We all knew that countries like UK, Germany, France are Staunch Allies of USA for many decades. So USA did not want those country persons to wait years . India was least favored country in past due to many political reasons. Though it is changing now still USA may like to give preference to many of their close Allies. Canada had TN Visa but India does not have similar thing. If this is a speculation then it is possible to change Country Quota. I strongly believe that it is easier to increase GC quota or recapture bill than removing country quota.
At this rate...after couple of years the GC backlog will only be restricted to EB-India
