Still undecided on whether to go to the Apple Store or BB...

Either way will probably head over to Stonebriar since I don't think there's a BB near Willow bend....

Jobs called this 'Word processing with an amazing sense of style', indicating that it's a word processor la Word. It's not. It's a basic DTP application

Agree! I don't think one should talk about Pages and Word as if they were in the same genre.

I said I had "limited" time to discuss the idea behind the campaign. Limited is the key word.
    ....
I actually find it amusing how much time you've spent making a big deal out of nothing here. But whatever puts the wind in your sails.

I've always had great service from T-Mobile.

I hear that customers with iPhones on T-Mobile who need help get transferred to the "Unsupported Handset Area" where they more than help out since there are so many iPhones on T-Mobile and they are a provider in Europe...

Why cant people just (I know this sounds crazy) listen to CR when they make factually based reviews (i.e., iPhone 4 antenna design CAN lead to dropped calls). I hate this blind bias some folks have on here.

then how do you explain CR giving the nod to another smartphone that *also* demonstrates a deathgrip loss of signal? they all do. yet, there was no hoopla about the others. only iphone.

thats what yanks the rug of credibility out from under them.

No matter how much you polish a turd, it's still a turd.

People like you make me laugh. Office 2011 is great, anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

Sure, there are alternatives to Office which people may prefer, but Office 2011 is great. Complete and utter fact.

I would hope that the unit would at least cache the download map tiles.

I wonder how well it will work on an iPad?

Am I the only one who plugs my phone in at night? All this worry over the battery life seems kind of silly. As long as it lasts the day...

I will be buying an 11 this summer. I am assuming the SB i5 ULV is a given and the 3000 graphics will be more than enough for me so...

    1) 128gb ssd standard (unlikely because ssd prices probably haven't fallen enough...yet)
    2) 4gb ram standard
    3) more battery life (maybe just to 6 hours, but hey its an improvement)
    4) Backlit keyboard (for aesthetics more than functionality)
    5) Thunderbolt (last because I don't really do much file transfer in the first place)

oh and include the 11 in the back to school free ipod touch deal.

Before all you Apple fannies disagree with this; just remember Apple is trying to sue everyone else too.

    It's all ridiculous.

"Apple fannies" -- I like that.

Seriously, the amusing part of this is that patent trolls are usually companies who never produce anything based on those patents. Sadly, Kodak is a company that once produced decent stuff, but is now essentially acting like a patent troll because they don't really produce squat anymore. Considering that Kodak is busy liquidating entire manufacturing sites, it would be amazing if this company ever made comeback (even if they won $1B from Apple).

You'll have to explain how a person would do a worse job simply because of their ethnicity.

I don't actually think ethnicity makes a difference but it's an interesting thought experiment.

Imagine you move to a country where nobody talks to white people. White people are totally ignored, irrespective of anything. Naturally then, if you employed a white person to work in a shop they'd do an awful job because they wouldn't be able to serve any of the racist clientele.

If we can choose against people by how well they'd do a job, and being white would mean you couldn't do a job, could we choose not to employ a white person because of this?

I know there's no real estate for it, but I wouldn't complain it if had a dedicated Ethernet port.

They could very easily do it like the VAIO X-

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/typo3temp/pics/1d9b969832.jpg

Flip it down to use it, flip it back up to maintain its thinness. It works because all the Ethernet pins are one side only.

Works well on my X128. (that thing is as thin and way lighter than the Air btw so don't say it isn't possible because it's heavier or thicker or anything)

Apple included the Ethernet adapter on the last gen Air- why did they cheap out and leave it out for the new generation?

    Get a 13" MBP.

Why should one have to compromise on weight, thinness and portability when the above solution is possible?

Are you shooting in HD or SD? You can adjust the audio level in your clips. Make your adjustments, play it back to make sure its where you want it before you burn it. I usually drop it more because its easier to raise the volume on the tv.

Not a plug... but.... petrolprices.com tells me what the prices are around my post code.

    Friday's were: 128.9p for 95RON Unleaded and 131.9p for 98/99RON (Which I use).

That's a pretty nifty site. Turns out where I usually get my petrol was the cheapest nearby, but good for when I am away from home and need to find somewhere.

There is a great sense of community with us Mac users, something that I love. I LOVE my mac, I use windoze all the time...it just dosen't work for me...I am a curse to PC's...I cause Blue Screen's of Death whereever I roam. When I do my Programing for Comp Sci @ my HS, I have to do a restart at least 4 times a week OY! But do understand that it is running Win95...So I can't blame the comp too much...I take all sorts of crap everyday from my PC using friends, who all bash apple. Reason? none...Yeah...

We are 12th and 13th at Willow Bend. We are currently at the end of the line. There is a roped off area and they are saying LIMIT TWO PER PERSON.

Thanks for the Willow Bend update. I'm planning on heading over around 1:30 and hope to not be too far back in line.

Wouldn't using the "extra" electricity to power fans to decrease heat lead to less "extra" electricity???? I hope they really think this through - and I'm sure they will. Of course powering fans isn't the only use for electricity.

I think that maybe you could think of this as something that harnesses the heat and slows the power drain from the battery for the same amount of heat produced by the cpu.

Of course they could use the extra power to provide a little more cooling to the chip, but only enough not to take the thermal difference (which generates the power in the first place) away. Now that makes it a lot clearer dosn't it!

Another cool idea would be to use one of those microscopic steam turbines. Steam turbines would remove heat and create power at the same time.... or was that some dream I had.

So what I want to know from anyonewho knows is can we boot from one of the other 3 HDD's,and then, with the Quadro FX 4500, play some wicked PC games. Or are we there yet, should I just keep saving until all of the cool stuff is ready (CS3, PC games, nasty graphics capabilities).
